Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
The Pit Crew, Charlotte Flair & More
June 16, 2020
It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Questions come from Facebook. Answers come from me. Let’s do this…
In WCW, there was a tag team called The Pit Crew (Chad Fortune & Dale Torborg). Do you remember them and what do you think of this team & gimmick?
I do remember them and from what I recall, they were created as part of the WCW sponsored Busch series race car that was driven by Steve Grissom. Since Nascar and WCW had a similar fan base, it made sense at the time and Fortune & Torborg would be at the Nascar events and hang out with the drivers and crew and cross-promote both WCW and the #23 car. The gimmick didn’t last very long and I don’t know what happened to Fortune after that. Torborg went on to become the KISS Demon and a fair career. They were good wrestlers and had a good look, but much like Sparky Plugg (Bob Holly) in the WWF, the characters and gimmick was too cartoony and out there for the average wrestling fans and had a short life.
AJ Styles allegedly is blaming Paul Heyman for Gallows & Anderson’s release. Do you think he’s right?
I don’t know what kind of influence that AJ thinks Heyman may or may not have, but I personally think he’s off base here. If there is anyone to blame for the decision to release Gallows & Anderson, it all comes down to Vince McMahon. He makes the calls and regardless of what others might say or thing, the responsibility for who is or isn’t employed by WWE falls on his shoulders and his shoulders alone.
Who should induct the Undertaker into the WWE Hall of Fame?
Vince McMahon is the most natural choice, but I don’t think Vince would do it. I would say either Kane, Steve Austin, or HBK would be the next logical choices.
What was your favorite ECW match?
To be honest, I was never a big ECW fan or follower. I was NWA/WCW all the way and then WWF as my second pick. But based on what I have seen, I’ll match any Masato Tanaka versus Mike Awesome match, especially the one at One Night Stand 2005, against anyone or any other match.
Will Charlotte Flair eventually win more World Championships and having a better career than her father, Ric Flair?
She may end up having more officially recognized title reigns, but for the sum of the entire career, there are very few who can even come close to matching the Nature Boy and Charlotte, while having a fantastic run and career, won’t do it either.
Jon Moxley versus Cactus Jack (in his prime). Who wins?
Cactus was more about taking punishment in his prime than actually winning matches. I prefer Cactus over Moxley, but in this case, I think Moxley would win.
The Dangerous Alliance (Rick Rude, Steve Austin, Bobby Eaton, Arn Anderson & Larry Zbyszko) w/ Paul E. & Madusa versus Degeneration X (HBK, HHH, Road Dogg, Billy Gunn, X-Pac) w/ Chyna in a War Games Match. Who wins?
Man, this would be so incredible and fun to watch. Look at all this talent and the Hall of Fame legends involved. DX would win since they’re the face team and the heels rarely, if ever, won a War Games match, but it would be a fight to be remembered and one for the ages.
