It’s Friday and you know what that means, right? It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. The questions are from Facebook. The answers are from me. Let’s do this…
Who is The Best Entertainer? R TRUTH or OTIS?
Otis is entertaining, but he’s just a warm-up act compared to the comedic talents of Ron Killings, aka R-Truth. When Otis can secede from the Union, get his towns mixed up, undeclare himself for the Royal Rumble, and make Brock Lesnar break character and laugh on live TV, then he can talk. Until then, it’s all Mr. 24/7, R-Truth.
Where did TNA fail in their attempt to become a competition to WWE back in 2006-2009?
They were trying too hard to be WWE Lite and copying the WWE product instead of being their own company and brand. A few former WWE talents weren’t necessarily a bad thing, but when every single featured talent was a former WWE star, that’s overkill and turns fans off. Plus lame storylines and bad booking decisions. And I don’t think that the Network was behind them 100%, but I can’t remember for sure.
So Brodie Lee has been in AEW for 3 months. What are your thoughts so far about him?
I’m somewhat disappointed, to be honest. Lee’s character is intriguing, but just hasn’t really caught on and been pushed like I was hoping or expecting. There is still hope for Lee and I think the pandemic has been a big factor with no audience to play off of or live crowds. His character may need some tweaking once the live shows start again, but I think the future is bright for Lee and he has a good future ahead of him in AEW.
Orange Cassidy versus The Undertaker? Who wins?
Can you imagine Cassidy trying to do his routine with the Dead Man and Taker just glaring at him? That would be awesome. I love watching the Juicy One do this thing and he’s a very capable and talented performer, but this match wouldn’t last long. Taker wins.
Is Sammy Guevara’s AEW career over?
Not at all. I fully expect to see Sammy back before long and what’s the old cliche about absence and the heart? He screwed up and he’s dealing with the consequences like a man. And when he comes back, he’ll be more popular than ever. I almost expect to see a face-turn in his future and a feud with his mentor, Le’ Champion. This is just a bump in the road for Guevara. He’s going to come back and be bigger than ever.
You are building a tag team and you can pick any two wrestlers you want,
and a manager as well. Who would your team be?
A team of any two wrestlers I choose and a manager as well. I think I’d go with the two best tag team wrestlers I can think of, Arn Anderson and The Masked Superstar (Bill Eadie) and put Woman in their corner and just watch the titles and accolades start piling up.
If you could write a book about anyone in pro wrestling history, who would you want to write about?
A book about Penny Banner and Johnny Weaver and their life as wrestling’s first power couple would be something I’m very interested in writing about at some point. Lord Alfred Hayes had a great story too and it would be cool to see that topic written about as well.
Brute Bernard versus George “The Animal” Steele. Who wins?
There is no way that this would have a clean finish. Either disqualifications or double count-outs or even just both men forgetting about each other and tearing up the ringside area. It’d be brutal and entertaining and the winners would be the fans.
