A Day Of Dougie
Drag Queens, Mr. Rogers, Cabo Wabo & More
Rapid Fire Edition
June 28, 2020
Good morning and welcome to another exciting Day of Dougie. It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these and it’s long overdue. And by “one of these”, I mean pulling out the “Magic Bag” and pulling out topics at random and just giving my thoughts, the first thing that comes to mind. It seems as if all I do anymore are Wrestling Q&A’s and Questions By Casper and while I enjoy doing those, sometimes one needs to expand the package a little bit. So that’s what I’m going to do. Expand the package, much like your boyf… Nah, it’s too early for “your boyfriend” jokes. Maybe later. So should I continue to ramble or get to work? I know what your boyfriend would say. Where’s my Magic Bag? Let’s get busy and do this…
I am not a big fan of drag queens. I understand that they’re a big part of the gay culture and as a gay man, I should be supportive, but I just don’t get it. Maybe it’s because the one time I decided to do drag, for Halloween, I looked terrible. As a drag queen, I make a great man. And panty-hose? How do they wear those things? Oh vey! No wigs, make-up, or bras for me. If someone else wants to do it, that’s fine, but I don’t get it. I really don’t.
An amazing singer who isn’t signed to any record label that I know of, but had a tremendous following on YouTube. He’s gay, sexy, and has some amazing music that everyone would like if they just give him a listen. My favorites are “All American Boy”, “All I Want For Christmas” and a duet with Eli Lieb called “Look Away”. He’s fantastic.
I like them. They add excitement and spice to an otherwise boring room. They give a place atmosphere and an aura to be experienced and enjoyed. And I can’t think of anything else to say about this topic. My bad!
Lean On Me
A great song by Bill Withers. It’s basically saying that if you are having a hard time and need a friend or a shoulder, I’ll be there for you. A great sentiment. And if I need someone, be there for me too, please. I could use someone to lean on right now, but that’s not how I operate. I deal. Still a great song though.
I’m not sure what exactly this topic is supposed to be about, but I guess I should just name three ghosts. How about Casper the Friendly Ghost, Boo Berry from the old cereal commercials, and The Holy Ghost? The song “American Pie” is playing on my computer right now. It’s a good song and Madonna’s cover, that sucked. But the original, by Don McLean, was and is incredible and timeless.
Just read any of my commentaries, Q&As, or Days of Dougie pieces and that’s what you’ll get. I can’t help it though. My mind doesn’t have much of a filter and I have to be me. Oh well.
There was a time that I sent out an average of forty to fifty Christmas cards each year. This past year, I mailed out one. No one cares anymore and I quit caring as well. With the invention of social media and computers, things that used to matter don’t matter anymore. They’re just memories.
Religion and Politics
Two topics that should never be discussed unless you want to offend someone or hurt some feelings. I love to talk about both, especially politics and the brain-damaged Democrats who would rather destroy our country than being respectful of individual rights, differing opinions, and OUR President. This is an election year too. Oh vey!
The world needs Mr. Rogers again. He was a good guy. It’s a beautiful neighborhood. Well, not so much anymore, but it could be if people weren’t so freaking ignorant and insane. RIP Fred Rogers. You are missed.
I wonder how much Shake & Bake you would need to cook that bird. Follow That Bird was an excellent movie. But Bird? I think he was gay.
It’s a tequila that was created by singer Sammy Hagar. When you drink it, you’re supposed to listen to old Van Halen records and take a shot every time Sammy sings a high note. Sammy doesn’t own it anymore though. He sold 80% of the stock in the company and made many millions of dollars. Good for him. It’s also the name of a restaurant/club that Hagar owns and performs at. And it was the title of a Hagar song as well. Sammy loves him some Cabo Wabo.
And that’s where I’m ending this column. I’m going back to bed. I’m tired.
So there you go. Any comments, thoughts, etc, are welcome and appreciated. Thanks for reading and for making today and every day, a Day of Dougie. I love you America! I’ll see you on the flip side.
