AEW FyterFest – Thoughts & Predictions (Night II)…

Tossing Salt Presents:
AEW FyterFest 2020
Thoughts & Predictions (Night II)
July 7, 2020

Coming up on TNT tomorrow night is Night 2 of AEW FyterFest. It’s a stacked card and we will see if AEW can rebound in their ratings loss last week to NXT’s Great American Bash. Let’s make a few predictions and figure out who takes that much-desired trip to the pay window if you will. Let’s do this…

Chris Jericho versus Orange Cassidy

This may be the match where Cassidy is exposed for what he truly is, a damn good worker. Despite his lackluster character, Orange can go when the situation calls for it, and against Jericho, it most definitely will. I’d look for comedy in the start, but when it picks up and as we get into the match, it should be a clinic in back and forth wrestling. Of course, since Jericho is ‘Le Champion, belt or no belt, he’ll win. I wouldn’t even mind seeing the return of Sammy to help his ‘Le Sex Gods tag team partner, but it’s probably too soon for that. A fun match that will make Jim Cornette’s head want to explode, but we’ll like it anyways.

Winner: Chris Jericho

Lance Archer w/ Jake “The Snake” Roberts versus Joey Janela

Janela is very good at getting under people’s skins and he seemingly has drawn the ire of Jake Roberts. Archer is big and mean and can’t afford a loss right now. Janela is one of those guys, it really doesn’t matter if he wins or loses because he’s going to draw attention and respect regardless. Some of his earlier Indy work is suspect, but Janela has what it takes to be a huge babyface. And it all will start with a loss, here, to Lance Archer. And I expect to see Jake get a shot in or two as well.

Winner: Lance Archer

Nyla Rose versus TBA

If they’re not announcing who Nyla is wrestling, then it’s either a surprise or a squash. Has anyone spotted Tessa Blanchard in the arena? Is Trish still in Canada? It’s probably going to be a squash against a no-name to help rebuild her character.

Winner: Nyla Rose

Colt Cabana & The Dark Order (Brodie Lee & Stu Grayson) versus SoCal Uncensored (Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky)

After Brodie’s loss to Moxley at the last big show, Lee needs a win and needs it badly. Cabana is an interesting partner, but I’ve never seen him work heel before and I’m intrigued. SCU is a made team and wins or loses, they’re in good standing. It’s Wednesday night and you know what that means.

Winners: Colt Cabana & The Dark Order

FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) versus The Butcher & The Blade and The Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. & Rey Fenix)

It’s pretty much a sure thing who will win, but the question here is will FTR give the Young Bucks a well-deserved beatdown during the match or immediately afterward? It’ll be a fast-paced and fun match and we’ll probably get an education in the art of tag team wrestling. FTR will establish their place as the to tag team in AEW and then the shit will hit the fan.

Winners: FTR & The Young Bucks

AEW Tag Team Championship Match
Kenny Omega & Adam Page (c) versus Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) w/ Matt Hardy

Despite the Broken presence of Matt Hardy, it won’t be a night for party and celebration for Isiah and Marq at the end of this match. I want to see Omega and Page versus FTR and the only way we get that is if Omega & Page win here and retain their titles. And they will. Matt will want to DELETE the ending but the results will remain the same.

Winners and STILL AEW Tag Team Champions: Kenny Omega & Adam Page

And there you go, my predictions for Night II of FyterFest. Am I right? Am I wrong?
