Ultimate Wrestling Q&A: Nick Aldis, Marty Janetty, Melina & More…

Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Nick Aldis, Marty Janetty, Melina & More
August 7, 2020

As per the usual, I have received questions from the always awesome Champion of Cheddar, Cheese, and a couple from Dave as well. So now it’s up to me to provide the answers because quite simply, that’s what I do. So are you ready? Let’s do this…

What did you make of Bruce Prichard knocking Nick Aldis on his podcast?

I think Bruce Prichard is pretty much full of crap and says things to hear himself talk. Is he entertaining? Absolutely! But anything he says has to be taken with a grain of salt. After all, never let the truth get in the way of a good story, right? I haven’t heard all the comments that the one-time Brother Love said about the current NWA World Champion, but I did see Aldis’ response on Twitter. Bruce’s critique of Nick seems to stem mostly from their days together in TNA and let’s be honest. No one from that particular time and period was especially motivated or stood out that much. But Aldis, since becoming the face of the NWA, has transformed himself into one of the most consistent and watchable wrestlers in the world today. He’s doing an excellent job as the NWA World Champion, a traveling champion of the old-school ways, and would be a major asset to any company fortunate enough to have him on their roster. Bruce is way off base on this one from what I can tell.

Why does AEW continue to showcase so much blood?

Because they’re not PG-rated and sometimes shit happens, including blood. It’s not like AEW has someone getting busted open every week. The incident with Matt Hardy and Sammy Guevara was an accident and the other notable offenders are Cody and Dustin Rhodes. If you’re a Rhodes, you bleed. Fact of life. If it gets to be too much, someone at TNT will say something, but as it’s been thus far, I don’t see a problem.

Could the hooded new group in WWE be the formerly released wrestlers from a few months ago?

That would be awesome and actually cool to see. I don’t think WWE has the focus and insight to do such an angle, especially since the biggest names of the released talent have signed new deals and move on to other promotions. It’ll just be new faces and talents from developmental getting their chance to come to the main roster. But I like the idea of it being former WWE stars much better.

Is Undertaker retired or not?

It’s professional wrestling. So long as the Undertaker works for WWE and is still capable of taking a breath (ironic for a dead man, right?), there will always be the talk of “one more match”. So is he retired? I would say no.

Marty Janetty. What the hell?

For those of you under a rock, former Rocker Marty Janetty went on Facebook and seemingly confessed to having “made a “man disappear” back when he was 13 years old. And then, he went on in an interview to elaborate on the details, providing more specifics. And my thoughts? “What the hell?” indeed. If Janetty did this and it’s true, why talk about it now and bring it up? He’s literally gotten away with an alleged murder. and if it’s a hoax and farce to get publicity, he’s pretty much fucked as well since the local authorities in Columbus, GA, have started looking into the claims and investigating. Regardless of how this all turns out, it’s not going to be good for Marty. What is going on inside that twisted little mind of his? It’ll be interesting to see where this goes and how it develops.

Would you be interested in seeing Melina back in WWE?

Melina is a good worker and a legit name from the past so if she’s wanting to come back and work some angles with the WWE, kind of as MVP has been doing, I would have no complaints. How about Melina and Zelina Vega as a pair of Latino “Pretty Mean Sisters”? I know that in the past, Melina was often accused of being a disruptive influence in the locker room, but from all reports from Lucha Underground and the NWA, where she’s recently been working, she’s a more mature and responsible person and has changed in many ways. If it’s true, then give it a try.

Would RAW Underground be a good way to bring CM Punk back into the WWE?

It’s the WWE version of MMA, kind of, and CM Punk left wrestling to have a career in MMA so why not try to bring him back and use this as his platform. Maybe then, he’ll finally get a win or two.

And there you go. My thanks for reading and to Cheese and Dave for the questions. Any thoughts, comments, or questions you’d like to see answered, just drop me a line and let’s talk.
