Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
The AOP, Jey Uso, Renee in AEW & More
September 6, 2020
It’s time to do the Q&A. How the hell are you? Let’s do this…
Thoughts on WWE’s new policy involving talents and using their names on third-party deals?
I’m mixed on this one. I understand what WWE is doing since they’re trying to protect their brand and control the image of their company, but the talents are not employees. They’re independent contractors and with that in mind, whatever they want to do on Twitch or YouTube or anywhere else for that matter, is their prerogative as it should be. Since the pandemic began, WWE isn’t touring and some of the talents are missing the extra money they normally would be getting and social media has provided them an opportunity to make up for the losses. I”m not sure what the answer is here since both parties have legitimate arguments both for and against the new policy. So either WWE makes all the talent real employees and pays them enough, with benefits, that they don’t need to do other things, or else a compromise needs to be reached that satisfies both parties. We’ll have to keep an eye on this one to see where it goes.
The WWE has released the AOP. Thoughts?
They haven’t been used in a while and had some injury issues that kept coming up so I can see the reasoning. But to do it now, in the middle of a pandemic, is crazy and wrong. There’s a 90-day no-compete clause in effect so maybe this will change and the AOP will be back on RAW as part of Seth’s cult, but I doubt it. AEW likes tag teams and they’d do well in Japan so hopefully, things will work out for the AOP. Best of luck to them.
Bray Wyatt has promised to introduce a new friend in the Funhouse. Who will it be?
Most likely, it will be Alexa Bliss, but I’m hoping for Bo Dallas, making his debut as the Fiend’s positive counterpart, “The Friend!”. I miss Bo!
Jey Uso is back and is the #1 Contender for Roman Reign’s Universal Championship. Thoughts?
It’s a good swerve and should be interesting to watch. Jey is a good wrestler and he and Roman have chemistry, being family and all. And I don’t think Jey has ever had any kind of singles push so it’s new and fresh. I like it.
Bayley turned on Sasha (finally). Thoughts?
Bayley has just broken the glass ceiling to be a top all-time heel. We all knew that the break-up was coming and has been teased for a long time, but I think we always assumed that Sasha would be the one to turn on her friend. It’s a cool twist and we know that these two will have some great matches as a result.
Would you like to see Renee Young join Moxley in AEW?
If that’s where she wants to go and they can find a way to use her productively, so be it. Renee is popular and good at what she does and I”m sure that she wants to be able to work with Moxley again. Whatever makes her happy though.
