Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Arn Anderson, Carmella, Man Mountain Rock & More
October 4, 2020
It’s Sunday night so you know what means. Washing clothes, pondering about a future episode of a “Days of Dougie” (and have I got a story to tell you), and getting ready to do a quick edition of the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Doesn’t that sound like a good time just waiting to happen? I could be watching NXT Takeover, but I don’t feel like it. I’d rather be doing this or getting laid. Any volunteers to help a brother out? I didn’t think so, so Q&A time it is. Let’s do this.
Arn Anderson has applied to trademark the name “Four Horsemen”. Thoughts?
He won’t get it. Not with WWE owning all the Crockett and WCW material that involves the greatest wrestling faction of all time, I cant see this trademark going through uncontested. It’s worth a shot and I know that Arn, Tully, and AEW are wanting to make a new version of the Horsemen, but I think they’ll be disappointed. My advice would be to make a slight adjustment to the name, such as Apocalypse, from who the Horsemen were said to represent, or maybe The Highwaymen, or even Horseman Elite. That last one might not past the trademark smell test, but they should be able to come up with something because unless Jerry McDevitt is in a coma somewhere, WWE will stop the Four Horsemen trademark from going through.
Who is the better wrestler – Danny Spivey or Barry Windham?
I like Danny Spivey, but there is no question or doubt here. Barry Windham, the son of Blackjack Mulligan, and Uncle to current WWE stars Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas can wrestle circles around Spivey and probably 98% of the performers in his era.
The Hollywood Blondes (Steve Austin & Brian Pillman) versus FTR. Who wins?
The fans because this match would be incredible to see. It could easily go either way and it wouldn’t be an upset in my opinion. I’ll go with Austin and Pillman to win though because I think that FTR would insist on doing the J.O.B. out of respect for the legends.
Carmella has been revealed as the mystery woman on Smackdown. Thoughts?
I hate the gimmick so far since it’s essentially a rehash of the Emmalina garbage that we saw a few years ago, but I’m glad to see Carmella back so I’ll watch it anyway.
Thoughts on Man Mountain Rock?
From what I remember of this guy, who wrestled in WCW in the early ’90s if I remember correctly, he looked like a poor man’s Undertaker, dressed like Bam BamBigelow, played the guitar, and was only in WCW for a few months. I don’t remember him making much of an impact or being very impressive. And I checked Wikipedia and he was Maxx Payne in WCW and didn’t use the Man Mountain Rock character name until he went to the WWE for a year or so. My bad! Still didn’t impress me much and would make a great trivia question for forgotten characters from the ’90s.
Ric Flair & Greg Valentine versus The New Day. Who wins?
It would depend mainly upon which two members of the New Day were representing the team in this match, but the outcome would be the same. Flair and Valentine, in the late ’70s, were unstoppable as a team. And the didn’t lose cleanly very often. They wouldn’t lose here either. Flair and Valentine would use their mutual figure-four leglocks and cause the New Day to have a bad day as they would be forced to tap out.
Thoughts on the legendary Chief Jay Strongbow?
A fake Indian who was the WWF’s answer to Wahoo McDaniel and did a poor job at it in the process. Weakchops, bad wrestling, not much of a personality or talker, but he was loyal to “Chief” as he was known to call Vince McMahon Jr. I’ve watched many a match on YouTube featuring Strongbow, and I have yet to see one that I would say was entertaining or memorable. Just a jabroni wearing feathers from what I can see.
Brock Lesnar versus Dan Severn (in his prime). Who wins?
Dan Severn is and was a tough SOB by anyone’s standards, but Brock is a beast and freak of nature in every definition of the word. I have no doubt that Dan would give one hell of a fight to the “Beast” but in the end, I also have no doubt that Brock would be the one victorious.
