WWE TLC 2020: Thoughts & Predictions

Tossing Salt Presents:
WWE TLC Thoughts & Predictions
December 20, 2020

Are you ready for some predicting stuff? Let’s get busy and do this. It’s WWE TLC and it’s live on Sunday night on pay-per-view and the WWE Network.

TLC Match: WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens.

I have to admit that Roman Reigns and this whole “Head of the Table” schtick has grown on me. It seems as if Roman has finally found that character to take him to the next level and be the top guy. Owens though, maybe it’s just me, but he seems to have lost a step in momentum and is just going through the motions here. It’ll be a good match and I suspect that we’ll see plenty of Uso shenanigans as the match progresses, but the ending really isn’t in any doubt.

Winner and STILL WWE Universal Champion: Roman Reigns

TLC Match: WWE Champion Drew McIntyre vs. AJ Styles.

This one is a little harder to guess at. Drew has been doing a good job as WWE Champion, but the ratings are down and WWE might be looking for a scapegoat. And what about Miz & Morrison and the Money In The Bank contract? How will that factor into the match and the ending? I can picture a scenario where both AJ & Drew are down and Miz cashes in at that moment to climb a ladder and steal the WWE title. A totally screwy ending, but it fits the Miz’s character perfectly. But for now, we’ll assume that Miz stays out of the match and it’s just AJ and Drew. If that’s the case, AJ finds a way, gets the victory, and we have a new Champion.

Winner and NEW WWE Champion: AJ Styles

WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks vs. Carmella.

Sasha is hot at the moment and seems to be finding her spot as the Smackdown Women’s Champion. I love me some Carmella and would love to see her back in the top spot on Smackdown again, but it’s not happening here.

Winner and STILL Smackdown Women’s Champion: Sasha Banks

Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt – Firefly Inferno Match.

There have been four Inferno matches thus far. Kane was in all four and lost three of the four, only winning once against MVP. Now it’s The Fiend versus Randy Orton and common sense says that Bray Wyatt will be stepping into the Kane role and losing. The fact that Bray is covered from head to toe while Randy wears only tights and boots also seems to lead to this conclusion. But it’s the WWE and they now have the magic of Cinematic smoke and mirrors now that there are no fans live in the arena to perform in front over. Look for Alexi Bliss to return and for that damn puppet rabbit to burn. And also Randy to burn too.

Winner: The Fiend Bray Wyatt

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler vs. Asuka & mystery partner (replacing Lana).

I hate it for Lana to come this far and yet be removed from the match, but it’s the WWE and you have to know that management is probably still pissed about Rusev/Miro. But now we get a big surprise and swerve about a mystery partner for Asuka. Everyone seems to be thinking about Charlotte, but I don’t agree. I’d look for her to return at the Royal Rumble as a surprise. Kairi Sane is a possibility, making a return to the WWE and that would make sense since she was “retired” due to injuries caused by Jax & Baszler. It’d be nice to see the Kabuki Warriors back together again and maybe even have Paige back by their side. But that would be too cool and I haven’t heard anything about Sane coming back to WWE. So let’s find a third option. How about Rhea Ripley from the land of NXT. She has a history with Baszler and I doubt she’s doing anything later today. Yeah, let’s go with Ripley appearing as Asuka’s surprise partner. And they’ll win too. New champions.

Winners and NEW WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions: Asuka & Rhea Ripley.

WWE Raw Tag Team Champion The New Day vs. Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin of the Hurt Business with MVP.

The New Day doesn’t need titles to be over. The Hurt Business has been all over RAW as of late and they’re on a roll with a ton of momentum. I sense a title switch here.

Winners and NEW WWE Raw Tag Team Champions: The Hurt Business w/ MVP

And there you go. Comments and thoughts are welcome and appreciated. My thanks for reading. Until the next time, take care and stay safe. Don’t forget to watch WWE TLC tonight on The Network. I’ll see you at the matches.
