Ultimate Wrestling Q&A: AEW, QT Marshall & More…

Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
AEW, QT Marshall & More
April 6, 2021

Let’s tackle a few questions about All Elite Wrestling. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m back. Let’s do this.

Who is your wrestling hero from childhood that you’d love to meet?

Most of my childhood favorites have passed away. That’s the bad thing about being old, but Ole Anderson and Jim Cornette are both still alive and kicking and doing well. It would be an honor and privilege to meet either man. Bobby Eaton, Bill Eadie (Masked Superstar), and the legendary Baron Von Raschke all also come to mind.

What are your biggest disappointments with AEW since its debut?

How inconsistent it all seems to be. AEW has some great talent on the roster and with the resources of Tony Khan and TNT, there is no reason that they shouldn’t be doing three times the numbers in ratings, but they just seem to be all over the place and there is no rhyme or reason for ninety percent of the stuff going on. The show is almost unwatchable and it seems as if they’re just throwing stuff out there to see what sticks and nothing is sticking for very long. AEW needs a single voice to call the shots and point everyone in the same direction. Otherwise, it’s just a mess and that’s what we’re dealing with now.

Thoughts on QT Marshall and his new faction/ turn on the Nightmare Family?

While I like Marshall and I think he’s a natural heel, this doesn’t make sense. It was just thrown out there and now we have another nameless faction, one among way too many, full of names and faces that no one knows or cares about. It was a moment that no one will remember a week from now and I guess leading into a mid-card feud that will draw absolutely no audience or help anyone.

Will Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford ever be champions in AEW?

Nope, I don’t think so. Ford isn’t that good in the ring and Sabian is wasting his time with the Best Friends and Orange Cassidy in a meaningless feud that no one gives a damn about. Totally forgettable at this point and I don’t see things getting any better anytime soon.

What can be done for AEW’s ratings to increase?

Tighten up on the stories and matches. Quit booking stupidity and make sure each match and confrontation has a purpose for being. And find a solid player with a mind for wrestling to guide the direction of the company and book the show rather than just letting everyone throw anything they want out there. AEW needs guidance and direction if they ever want to make things better. They sure as hell don’t have it now.

Should Dark feel more like a show rather than just straight matches with zero to little build?

Announcers, commentary, and interviews between the matches, and some build during the show and leading up to the matches. I wouldn’t mind seeing that. I love a good match, but it’d be nice to know the backstory and more about the people involved aside from, “Here’s the match. Enjoy!”, that AEW currently does.

And there you go. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts, or questions you’d like to ask about the world of professional wrestling, or anything for that matter, feel free to drop me a line. Until the next time, take care of yourself and I’ll see you at the matches.
