Are you ready for a Sunday afternoon discussion of the world’s greatest sport? Let’s talk pro wrestling and the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s do this.
What are your thoughts on Christian winning the Impact World Championship?
I’m glad to see Christian wearing gold again and if any person deserves to be wearing the Impact World Championship, why not a former 2-time NWA/TNA World Champion such as the favorite of Peeps Worldwide, Christian Cage. It’s kind of odd to see the Impact title change hands on an AEW television program between two AEW wrestlers, but I guess this is what pro wrestling, 2021, is all about. Christian is a better fit and makes more sense for Impact Wrestling, given his past history with the company, and it will be interesting to see where this goes. I don’t think Christian will win the AEW belt, come the next pay-per-view, but this leaves Impact in good hands and they finally have a champion of note who is more than capable of carrying the company on his shoulders as they head into the future. Christian Cage, Impact World Heavyweight Champion. It has a nice ring to it.
I’ve been seeing reports that AEW’s Max Caster will be suspended for 2 months without pay and forced to attend sensitivity classes as a result of the fallout from his controversial rap on Dark 100. Thoughts?
While I hate most rap music and Max Caster doesn’t do anything for me, but this is so much BS over nothing in my opinion. He made a few crude remarks during his rap a few weeks ago and so what? Who the hell cares? If this had been the Attitude Era or during the Monday Night Wars, nobody would have noticed or raised an eyebrow, but in today’s WOKE era, it’s not good to say anything dark, mean, crass, or tasteless. It’s a bunch of crap no matter how you may look at it. And if it’s true that he’s going to be suspended or attend classes to be more sensitive, it just shows how truly clueless Tony Khan is and how scared he is that someone might have their feelings hurt or be offended. I feel for Caster that he has to deal with being punished for doing his job and getting a reaction from fans, the thing he’s supposed to do. It’s just crazy. If Khan is mad, give Caster a warning to tone it down and then move on. The rest of this, it’s just plain making a big deal over nothing that should matter. Total insanity.
Virgil versus Baron Corbin. Who wins?
Unless Virgil drops his pants and hits Baron over the head with his formidable manhood or overcharges him for a fake autograph, the only moves that Virgil seems to have, this would go to Baron Corbin all the way and quite easily at that.
Do you think MJF is the top heel in wrestling currently?
The top heel? Nope, but one of the top heels, absolutely. As to who the top heel is, that is subjective and open to discussion but is MJF among the better heels currently in the wrestling business. Absolutely.
Would you like to see Nature Boy come to AEW and bring Four Horsemen back?
What are Ric, Tully, and Arn going to do as the reformed 4 Horsemen? Yell at the younger wrestlers to get off of their lawn and turn the music down? Arn is busy as the advisor for Cody Rhodes, Tully is the manager of the Pinnacle and Ric? Who knows what Ric is going to do although an alliance with Andrade seems likely. An on-screen reunion would be cool for a huge pop and one-time deal, but as far as a regular faction, it wouldn’t make much sense in the big picture of things.
Is it just me or is Chavo not cutting it as Andrade’s mouthpiece?
I think Chavo has done fine as far as being the spokesman for Andrade thus far, but if what happened at Triplemania is any indication, his days are numbered in this role and Ric Flair may be taking his spot. I hate it for Chavo because he’s a good talent and in my opinion, an asset to any wrestling company, and he deserves a more prominent role if possible, but his days with Andrade, I think are severely numbered.
Does WWE own the rights to “The Wyatt Family”? Or can this happen in AEW?
The names of Bray Wyatt and the Wyatt Family are owned by WWE and belong to WWE so if Bray & his associates want to do a makeshift version of the Family and keep the gimmick alive, it will have to be under a different name with slight alterations to the characters to avoid legal actions by WWE.
The Midnight Express (Eaton, Condrey, & Lane) w/Jim Cornette versus The Fabulous Freebirds (Hayes, Gordy & Roberts) w/ Jimmy Garvin versus The New Day (Kofi, Woods & Big E). Who wins?
It’d be a fun, albeit confusing match and be full of craziness and chaos to be sure. My money would be on, no surprise here, The Midnight Express and Jimmy Cornette would take the win here.
Ric Flair appeared at TripleMania as the second to Andrade in his match against Kenny Omega. Thoughts?
Well, Andrade is Ric’s son-in-law so it makes sense, plus Ric was able to trade chops with Konnan and place him in the figure four leglock which is all he really wants to do so I guess it was a good thing. I think it’s a sign that Ric and Andrade are destined to be together in AEW in the near future and Triplemania was a test run to see how well they work together. Who knows if this was truly a sign and preview of things to come or a one-time deal, but it was a cool moment for AAA fans and the people who watched Triplemania happen. As to what the future holds, we’ll just have to wait and see.
And with that, this is the end. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts, or questions you’d like to see answered in a future column, please feel free and drop me a line. Until the next time, take care and stay good. I’ll see you at the matches.
