Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Tony Khan, Kenny Omega, Tommy Dreamer & More
November 16, 2021
It’s Tuesday morning and that means a fun day of nurses, carpenters, and all sorts of people in and out of the house. Just shoot me now. Let’s do the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A.
Does Tony Khan need to step back and keep a lower profile as the owner of AEW?
I wouldn’t say step back since he is the primary booker and owner of AEW, but maybe stay cut back on Twitter and press releases and let the shows and wrestling speak for themselves. Sometimes, less is more and while I’m sure that the wrestlers of AEW appreciate Khan’s enthusiasm (and money), he lights fires where there is no need and shows his inner-mark way too often. Before making a press release, Tony needs to think, “Is this really important?”, before speaking. It would make him far easier to bear.
So what wrestlers do you feel AEW doesn’t know how to use?
There are so many wrestlers on the roster right now, many talents are getting neglected. How about Lance Archer? Sonny Kiss? Q.T. Marshall?
Ricky Starks? Griff Garrison and Brian Pillman Jr.? Those are just off the top of my head. I get it that there’s a lot of talent and limited TV time so not everyone can get a big push, but Marshall, Garrison, and Starks are far more over because of Sammy Guevera’s VLOG than anything they’ve done on AEW TV. AEW needs an experienced wrestling booker to balance things out and make sure talents get a chance to perform and get over rather than sitting around in the back playing Trashketball. I wonder, is Kevin Sullivan available? Or Dutch Mantell?
Just found out Tommy Dreamer left Impact, you think he should go to AEW?
Right now, Tommy Dreamer is scorched earth due to the Dark Side Plane Ride From Hell special so I expect he’ll lay low, work some Indy bookings, and ride out the storm. When he’s ready to return, AEW would be cool, but given Dreamer’s age and declining skills, I think any appearances would be just one-shots and cameos. Dreamer as a full-time wrestler for any of the big companies, I suspect those days are over.
Now that Kenny Omega has dropped the belt to Hangman Page, do you think he’ll also drop the AAA MegaChampion title too, and who to?
I keep hearing that Omega is nursing some injuries and may be needing some time off soon. If that’s the case, I do fully expect to see him drop the AAA MegaChampionship too. As to who will take that coveted title away from The Sweeper, I have no idea. I don’t follow AAA. So… La Parka? Why not. Sounds good to me.
What do you think about how the end of the world title match when The Young Bucks nodded at Hangman? How will they be booked going forward?
Some hard feelings with Omega and the Bucks and then we’ll see The Bucks take Omega to the super-kick city and put him out for a while so he can get some much-needed time off. That is if the rumors I mentioned above are true and Omega is nursing some injuries. As for Page’s status, he’ll stay a face for a while and the Bucks will end up joining him as baby-faces after their other elite partner, Adam Cole Bay-Bay reunites with Boby Fish to form a faction of his own.
Top 20 participants for your dream battle royal match?
It’s a Dream Battle Royal so I can use anyone from any era or company, right? So it would be: Yokozuna, Andre the Giant, Stan Hansen, Rick Steamboat, Masked Superstar, Blackjack Mulligan, Ole Anderson, Larry Zbyszko, Ernie Ladd, Arn Anderson, Big Bossman, Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens, The Great Muta, Kane, The Undertaker, Triple H, Brian Adams, Ric Flair, and Brock Lesnar. And the winner would be… The Masked Superstar.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions about wrestling or anything at all drop me a line. Until the next time, take care of yourself and stay good. I’ll see you in catering.
