Thoughts & Predictions

Coming up on Sunday night, live from the Barclay Center in New York, and available for viewing on Peacock and The WWE Network, is the WWE Survivor Series. It’s the second oldest show still on the WWE roster, right after Wrestlemania, and it’s always a good show. Okay, that last part is a bit of a lie. The hype and anticipation for this show are somewhat lacking this year. I have no doubt that the matches will be solid and entertaining, but still, the build and hype are “Eh!” at best. It doesn’t matter though. It’s a big WWE event and that means predictions. So are you ready? Let’s do this.
And the WWE decided at the last second to add a 25-Man Over-The-Top Battle Royal to the show. So here’s my last minute prediction added on. Enjoy and thank you.
25-Man Battle Royal
With: AJ Styles, Apollo Crews, Cedric Alexander, Cesaro, Chad Gable, Commander Azzez, Drew Gulak, Jinder Mahal, Los Lotharios, Mansoor, Omos, Otis, R-Truth, Ricochet, Robert Roode, Sami Zayn, Shanky, Shelton Benjamin, The Street Profits, T-Bar, and The Viking Raiders.
A little extra for the show to get everyone that’s left after the roster cuts on to the card. Some filler if you will. But notable by their absences are Dolph Ziggler, 24/7 Champion Reggie. Elias, Mustafa Ali, and Akira Tozawa. So I guess my Q&A prediction of Elias popping up is no good. Oh well. I do expect to see Reggie floating around and even though he’s not in the Battle Royal, we’ll probably see some 24/7 madness and maybe a title change or five for that belt as the night progresses. Expect to see R-Truth add to his already well-padded resume of reigns as a champion.
As for the Battle Royal itself, a faceoff between Omos and Commander Azzez could make for a memorable moment. Those are two big-ass men. Jinder could win since he’s in line for a big push before heading off to television land to take part in a series on CBS, I believe, as a regular, but most likely not. This battle royal doesn’t really mean anything so I’ll just pick a name of who I want to win so they can have bragging rights before being ignored by WWE Creative again. The winner will be the King of Swing, Cesaro.
Winner: Cesaro
WWE Champion Big E vs. WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
There will not be a conclusive finish to this match. Roman is booked so strong, he can’t afford a loss, and Big E? A loss, even to Roman, would essentially cut the legs out from under him and his credibility as the WWE Champion. I expect we’ll see The Usos and The New Day all get involved to protect their associates and it’ll be OINGO BOINGO from then on. And the referee, losing all control, will call for the bell in a DQ finish. Let’s say Double-DQ/No Contest.
No Contest: Both Men Are DQ’ed for outside interference.
Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch vs. SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair.
Charlotte is on the bad girl’s list right now and is allegedly unhappy with everything WWE and I don’t think this match will help matters much. A loss won’t hurt Charlotte any and it will help foster her conspiracy theories about the women of WWE and their feelings towards her.
Winner: Becky Lynch
WWE Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura vs. WWE United States Champion Damian Priest.
A clash of styles with an international flair, this one should be a fantastic match and could be the dark horse match of the night that steals the show. I don’t think a loss will hurt Shinsuke, but for Priest, he shouldn’t have to eat one yet. Priest wins.
Winner: Damian Priest
Survivor Series Elimination Match: Team Raw – Seth Rollins & Finn Balor & Kevin Owens & Rey Mysterio & Bobby Lashley vs. Team Smackdown – Drew McIntyre & Jeff Hardy & King Xavier Woods & TBA & Baron Corbin.
The big mystery here is who the “TBA” will be for the Smackdown team. Any guesses? I’ll go with either Elias or Cesaro as my picks. As for the match itself, there are so many combustible elements on the RAW team. Didn’t Seth try to put Rey’s eye out? And now they’re partners? That just doesn’t sound right to me. And remember the battles Seth and Owens had? And they’re partners? The only one on the Smackdown team that wouldn’t get along with the rest is Corbin and he’s an opportunist so he could still work out. This one has to go to Smackdown. If RAW was to win, with all those issues floating about, it just doesn’t make sense.
Winners: Team Smackdown (Drew McIntyre, Jeff Hardy, King Xavier Woods, Baron Corbin, and TBA.
Survivor Series Elimination Match: Team Raw – Bianca Belair & Rhea Ripley & Liv Morgan & Carmella & Queen Zelina Vega vs. Team Smackdown – Sasha Banks & Shotzi Blackheart & Shayna Baszler & Natalya & Toni Storm.
Looking at these names, the WWE Women’s Division really has dropped in terms of quality and big names. Without Becky, Charlotte, Bayley, Alexi, and Asuka, it just looks weak in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong. I like Zelina Vega, Carmella, and Rhea Ripley fine, but where is Tamina, Nikki A.S.H., or Naomi? It just doesn’t feel right to me. It still should be a good match and I’m sure the ladies, especially Shotzi, will bust their asses and show us a thing or two. As for who wins, I have the men of Smackdown winning their match so this one, the ladies of RAW will take the big win.
Winners: Team RAW (Bianca Belair, Rhea Ripley, Liv Morgan, Carmella, Queen Zelina Vega)
WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champions The Usos vs. Raw Tag Team Champions RK-Bro
I really like the way that Riddle and Randy Orton have gelled as a good tag team. The Usos are always good and this should be a very good match. It’s a tight call, but I think I’ll go with Randy and Riddle on this one. The Tribal Chief won’t be happy, but the Bloodline is taking a loss.
Winners: Team RK-Bro (Randy Orton & Riddle)
