Thoughts & Predictions
February 18, 2022
DougMaynard.com
Live from the Alario Center in New Orleans, it’s Impact Wrestling’s most recent pay-per-view offering, No Surrender, on Saturday, February 19. The show will be streaming on Impact+, FITE.TV, and regular PPV outlets. Are you ready for a few predictions? Let’s do this.
Impact Wrestling Champion Moose vs. W. Morrisey.
W. Morrisey, formerly known as Big Cass in WWE, has really reinvented himself and looks great these days. Moose, he’s just a freaking beast, and while he never impressed me much in the past, he’s starting to do so now as the Impact Champ. I can see this going either way, but I don’t know if it’s time to switch the title. I think Moose will retain.
Winner and STILL Impact Wrestling Champion: Moose
Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Mickie James vs. Tasha Steelz with Savannah Evans.
Tasha Steelz is tough, but Mickie as the champion has more appeal and more potential for another crossover with the WWE or even AEW against their champion, Dr. Britt Baker. I think Mickie should retain here.
Winner and STILL Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion: Mickie James
Chris Sabin & Steve Maclin & Rhino & Rich Swann & Eddie Edwards vs. Honor No More’s Matt Taven & PCO & Vincent & Mike Bennett & Kenny King with Maria Kanellis – If Honor No More are victorious, they remain in Impact Wrestling.
If Honor No More loses, the story is over and six entertaining talents are cast adrift into the Indy Wrestling abyss, so it’s not really a question of who wins, but how they do it. Which Impact star will betray his buddies to join the Honor No More faction? Rhino and Eddie Edwards are the obvious choices. I think it will be Steve Maclin. He’ll do the double-cross, the ex-ROH guys win, and the story continues.
Winners: Honor No More (Matt Taven, PCO, Vincent, Mike Bennett, & Kenny King w/ Maria Kanellis)
Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers vs. The Guerrillas of Destiny.
We need to see at least one title switch here tonight and this is where it’s going to happen. Gallows and Anderson take the fall and the Guerrillas of Destiny win the belts.
Winners and NEW Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions: Guerrillas of Destiny
Impact Wrestling Knockouts Tag Team Champions The IInspiration vs.The Influence.
A match that was originally scheduled to take place at Hard To Kill, it’s The IInspiration, Jessie McKay & Cassie Lee against The Influence, Madison Rayne & Tenille Dashwood. This should be a top-notch match with four women who can really go in that ring. I would like to see the former Iiconics keep their titles here, but I’ve got a feeling in my gut that it won’t quite go that way. Let’s call for a title switch.
Winners and NEW Impact Wrestling Knockouts Tag Team Champions: The Influence (Madison Rayne & Tenille Dashwood)
Eric Young vs. Jay White.
Jay White has signed with AEW and will be leaving to go work a program with The Young Bucks and Adam Cole at that company so is there any point in him winning here? I can’t see it. Eric Young gets the win.
Impact Wrestling Digital Media Champion Matt Cardona vs. Jordynne Grace.
Matt Cardona, as we all know, is now the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion so if this match even happens, I’ll be surprised. I could see Matt showing up and having Chelsea Green take his spot, and if that happens, Grace will win and we’ll have a new Champion. But if this match takes place as scheduled, and it’s Cardona versus Grace, then Matt should win and win easily.
Winner and STILL Impact Wrestling Digital Media Champion: Matt Cardona
Black Taurus vs. Jonah.
I’m not familiar with Black Taurus, but Jonah, I remember very well from his time at NXT, under the name Bronson Reed. This kid is good.
Winner: Jonah
ROH & AAA Champion Deonna Purrazzo has issued an open-challenge.
This one could lead to possibly anyone stepping up to face the very talented Purrazzo and should be exciting. I have no idea who will be stepping up. I expect it will be either a new addition to the Impact roster or a big name from the past. I’ll go with the latter, as I see that the former Ember Moon, now wrestling as Athena, made her return to the squared circle a few nights ago, wrestling to a time-limit draw with AEW’s Thunder Rosa. So that’s my pick and as to who wins, never go against someone named after the Greek goddess of Wisdom & War.
Winner: Athena
Four-Way Match to Determine New #1 Contender for X-Division Championship
Chris Bey versus Ace Austin versus TBA versus TBA
Two big questions to be answered here. Who will the other two challengers be who will be added to this match and will it be given any time on the PPV? I think Impact will give it enough time to have a decent match. At least I hope so. As for who the other two, besides Bey & Austin will be, I’ll go with Heath Miller & Chris Sabin. And as for who wins, you know I gotta go with Heath. He needs to be in title contention and back near the top of the card. After all, he’s got kids.
Winner: HEATH
And there you go. So am I right or wrong? We’ll find out on Saturday. So what are your predictions? Let me know, along with any thoughts, comments, or questions you may have. I want to hear from you. And with that, I guess it’s time to close this up. Take care and be safe. I’ll see you at the matches.
