Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Pat McAfee, Vince McMahon, Heels & Babyfaces & More
March 5, 2022
More provocative than an Iron Sheik promo on Hulk Hogan, it’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s do this.
So Vince isn’t wrestling at WrestleMania but will give Pat McAfee a match. Who do you think Mr. McMahon will select to wrestle against Pat? Corey Booker said on Twitter that he’d “happily beat Pat’s ass!”.
Corey Booker versus Pat McAfee would be a fun match and excellent to see and given their positions in the company, plus the fact that Graves was recently cleared to wrestle, it would be easy to work into the stories. Austin Theory, given that he’s Vince’s current pet project, makes sense as well. Most likely it’ll be one of these two men, but it’s the WWE. It could be anyone and that’s fine with me.
Vince is the one who will be inducting Undertaker into the WWE Hall of Fame. Thoughts?
He’s the best person for the job and I’m glad to see Vince breaking his own rule about being a part of the Hall of Fame Ceremony. Taker is definitely worth it.
WWE just announced it is terminating broadcast relationships with Russia and has ended WWE Network services in the country. Thoughts?
It’s good public relations and makes political sense for a publically traded company in the United States. Putin has to be fuming though. He won’t be able to see Wrestlemania. Damn you, Vince.
Mike Chioda says that he wouldn’t be surprised if Shane McMahon showed up in AEW. Would you be surprised?
Mike Chioda was a good referee for the WWE and knows the wrestling business, but we’re not going to see Shane McMahon in AEW. Not now and not ever.
Chavo Guerrero was seemingly fired from AEW without even knowing about it. Thoughts?
The way I understand it, Chavo was signed to AEW, but had to leave to go work on the Young Rock series. Tony Khan told Chavo to go do the TV show and he’ll see him when Chavo gets back. Then Chavo’s name was removed from the AEW roster and Chavo didn’t know anything about it. I suspect it was just an error, blown up and given life by the internet. Who knows? But Chavo only has to give Tony a phone call or visit and I’m sure it will be all straightened out in five minutes. But the wrestling fan/cynic in me says storyline. So maybe Chavo is upset about being fired without proper notification and confronts Tony on AEW TV. Tony gives Chavo a match to determine if he stays with AEW or is fired. It’s a storyline that gets Chavo on TV, builds to a match, and would draw attention and interest from the fans. I hope that’s the case, and it gives Chavo a push and a stronger position in the company. He’s certainly talented enough, has name value, and has, I believe, one more good run left in him. Now, we just have to wait and see where this goes.
Who do you feel was the ultimate babyface ever?
Rick Steamboat. He never went heel for a reason, because he was so good and such a great talent at being a good guy/babyface. Nobody did it better over the length of an entire career.
The majority of wrestlers had runs as both a face and heel.
Of the ones that you recall that didn’t, what face would you have wanted to have a heel run and what heel would you have wanted to have a face run?
I would have loved to see Steamboat, who was mentioned in the last question, turn heel. I personally think he would have killed it and done a fantastic job. As for heel turning face, when MJF finally attempts to do a face turn at some point, that’s going to be fun to see. No complaints from me and I’m strongly anticipating the reaction he gets.
Vader in the Hall of Fame Class of 2022? Yes or No?
Yes, it should happen, and the sooner, the better.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions you may have are welcome and appreciated. Until the next time, take care and be safe. I’ll see you at the matches.
