Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Sting, William Regal, Gay Wrestlers & More
March 11, 2022
Dancing more than a debuting Jeff Hardy while his brother gets beaten up, it’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s do this.
Since New Jack’s passing last year, has Sting inherited his soul? I ask this because every big match sting now competes in, has a big dive in it somewhere.
I’ve noticed that Sting seems to like to do the high-spots and big bumps far more often than a 62-year-old man probably should, but I don’t think he’s being possessed by the spirit of New Jack. After all, we haven’t seen Sting try to slice anyone up as of yet. When that happens, then we can start to worry. Until then, we’ll just sit back and enjoy watching Sting defy the odds and kick ass.
With Steve Austin set to return to this year’s WrestleMania. Does this show a lack of A-grade matches in the current roster or is this good for the WWE?
If Steve Austin is going to be there, it’s definitely good for the WWE. Yes, the matches announced so far are for the most part less than awesome, but with WrestleMania, WWE is going to go all out and have all hands on deck for the shows. That’s all they’re doing regardless of who they have on the current roster.
Who would you book in a six-man ladder man match at WrestleMania for the Intercontinental championship for Ricochet to defend against?
I haven’t heard if this is the route they’re going for Ricochet to defend his title at Mania, but if they do go this route, I’d have Ricochet defend against Sheamus, Jinder Mahal, Apollo Crews, Tomasso Ciampa, and Bobby Roode.
William Regal. Discuss. What’s his role going to be? Will we see him regularly on TV? (I hope so) Is he the most underrated wrestler/character of all time? How measurable and important is AEW’s acquisition of William Regal?
To answer your questions in order: I think his role onscreen, for now, looks to be the manager of Danielson and Moxley. Off-camera, I expect he’ll be a coach and agent. We will probably see him quite regularly on camera and TV. He is definitely better than WWE gave him credit for. With AEW, it remains to be seen how it goes. And the acquisition of Regal is very important and a very big deal for AEW, as it should be.
If the Cody return isn’t happening then what do you see Seth do? I’d say against such a marquee name like Seth and a stage like WrestleMania a debut match for Gable Stevenson would be a great way to introduce him to the fans. Seth can win with a great showing from Gable.
It would be great for Gable if he’s ready, but I haven’t seen any real sign yet that he is ready to be thrown into such a big event just yet. If Cody doesn’t happen, I expect we’ll see maybe Seth versus Finn Balor or maybe Seth versus Damien Priest instead.
If Brock loses to Roman at Mania, who do you think will beat Roman Reigns for the title?
If Roman wins, I think Randy Orton might be the man to step up, or maybe Roman versus Riddle. Riddle as the Universal Champion? Works for me.
What did you make of the crowd for the first 15 minutes of Cole VS Hangman with the whole “Oh my god they’re both named Adam!” thing?
I personally thought it was stupid, but the fans were having fun and happy so what does it matter what I think? Now you understand why Vince liked to change everyone’s names, to keep things like that from happening.
Would you blame wrestlers for not wanting to wrestle a PRIDE guy? I mean have you seen the number of times your crotch is in another man’s face and hands? Imagine he gets a stiffy during the match doing a moonsault? Or tells his GIRL friend’s about your Junk size doing Press!
If the “Pride Guy” is a trained professional, there shouldn’t be anything to worry about and they’re going to be paying far more attention to putting on a good match, hitting their spots, and being professional than trying to cop a feel or think about someone’s junk. This is such an ignorant question/comment, I almost didn’t use it in the column, but then I decided what the hell, do it anyhow. But the bottom line is this. If a person is there to cop a feel, grope the other wrestlers, or be a total jerk or perv, they don’t belong in that ring anyhow. If you’re professional wrestling against a professional, all of that garbage you’re speaking of isn’t going to happen or be a problem.
Scorpio Sky is the new AEW TNT Champion. Thoughts?
Sky is a good wrestler and is a good option to wear the TNT title. I’m a big Sammy fan and I hate it that he’s lost the title, but I’m thinking that with Sammy being a face and the next big match coming up is against Wardlow, who just turned face, it’d be better to have a heel champion. With all of that in mind, switching the belt from Sammy to Scorpio makes sense. Congratulations to Mr. Sky. Good luck against Wardlow. He’s going to need it.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions you may have are welcome and appreciated. Until the next time, take care and be safe, my friends. I’ll see you at the matches.
