More bros and brothers than Hulk Hogan and Vince Russo at a Cornette Family Reunion, it’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s do this.
Were you a fan of Mr. Perfect?
I was and still am a fan of the very talented former AWA World Champion. So far as in-ring skill, over-selling when appropriate, and being a great professional wrestler, Curt Hennig was absolutely… pretty damn good. I still haven’t forgiven him for taking Arn’s “spot” and turning on The Horsemen, but aside from that, Curt was a great wrestler, a great character, had a damn good son who is equally as talented in that ring, and was in every way, absolutely awesome. In fact, one might even say he was… perfect. Not me because he betrayed The Horsemen, but he’s as close as a wrestler can be.
Dream match: Sting(when he was the Stinger) and HBK. Who you got winning that match?
Sting had the size advantage, while HBKhad the speed and technique. I don’t think this would be a great match because of the clash in styles, but as to the winner, that is not in doubt at all. HBK wins.
Is Arn Anderson inducting Sid into the Hall of Fame?
I’m sure that he could take a stab at it and be a cut above the rest, but we don’t want to cause a fight for the ages. Someone could get hurt or even fired. For Sid, as his inductor, I’d go with Teddy Long or maybe Jerry Lawler.
What is your take on the WrestleMania two-night format?
I actually prefer it over the single-night show. I know it makes it rough with the scheduling for WWE, but two nights of regular-length shows and celebration works better than one very long night that drags on for almost six hours and wears everyone out.
Thoughts on Pete Dunne’s name change to Butch?
I think Vince McMahon forgot to take his meds again and is being crazy Vince. If Pete Dunne hadn’t been a presence in WWE, albeit NXT, for well over five years, they could get away with this regardless of how stupid the name is (and it is, very stupid), but the majority of the WWE fans know who Dunne is and what he can do, so why the dumb name change? Here’s hoping that it gets quickly dropped and Dunne can resume his Bruiserweight gimmick instead.
Steven Seagal is going to the WWE Hall of Fame as a Celebrity inductee. Thoughts?
What has Steven Seagal ever done for professional wrestling? When Cyndi Lauper, Regis Philbin, and Andy Kaufman are still waiting in the wings, all of who did far more for pro wrestling than most wrestlers have, how does Steven Seagal jump to the front of the line? He made some cool movies forty years ago. I get that, but WWE Hall of Fame? Really? Someone really needs to make sure Vince takes his meds. He’s getting crazy again.
Do you really think that Tony Khan paid 40 million dollars for ROH?
In the overall scheme of things, that’s not really as much money as it sounds like, but for a video library and some production equipment, that’s a bit inflated, especially after listening to Jim Cornette break it all down in a recent podcast. Do I think Khan paid that much? I would say no. No, I do not.
Who was Double A’s best tag team partner in your opinion?
Let’s look at our options. Matt Borne, Ole Anderson, Barry Windham, Larry Zbyszko, Bobby Eaton, Tully Blanchard, Ric Flair, and Paul Roma. Personally, I loved the teaming with Bobby Eaton, as well as the Anderson/Zbyszko team. Ole was more of a mentor for Arn and Arn describes that teaming as a trip to the book of knowledge. I don’t think Arn had a bad tag team with anyone really. But the best partner? I have to go with Tully on this one.
The Juice versus The Juice. Juventud Guerrera versus Orange Cassidy. Who wins?
The makers of Florida Orange Juice. It’s not just for breakfast anymore. If we’re talking about both men in their prime, my money would be on Juvi. If we’re talking about in a motel lobby in Australia, I’d go for Cassidy. And if we’re talking about winner gets Dougie, I gotta go with Juvi again. I can’t help it. He’s hot!
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions you may have are welcome and appreciated. Until the next time, be safe and be good. I’ll see you at the matches.
