Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Logan Paul, Gunther, The Undertaker & More
April 12, 2022
Another long and extended edition of the best damn wrestling Q&A column ever, period! Nothing is off-limits and anything goes, as it should be. You ask & I answer, and that’s the bottom line because I just said so. Are you ready? It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s do this.
Arn Anderson vs Honky Tonk Man? Who you got?
A great match of two veterans that could easily go either way and it wouldn’t be an upset. Arn is, in my opinion, the better all-around wrestler. Honky is the better entertainer though and most bookers would give Honky the nod here and the win. But I’m not most bookers. To me, it’s all about the Four Fingers. Arn with a spine-buster and the clean win.
Would you like to see Logan Paul back in WWE to work a long program with The Miz?
I have to make an admission here. I’d heard of Logan Paul, but until the build for Wrestlemania started, I didn’t know or care who he actually was. I saw the news stuff when he fought the illiterate pygmy-boxer who likes to run and dodge last year, but aside from that, who? But the WWE brought him in and I’ll admit it. I like the character and charisma he showed. And then the match happened at Mania and the guy can work. He impressed me in that match with Miz against The Mysterios. So with all of that in mind, if WWE wants to bring him back to work a few matches and to show us more, I’m all for it. Book it, Vince.
What was your favorite match on the WrestleMania card this year and do you think Cody coming back to WWE (and his clear allowed use of banned terms) signals a shift in WWE practice?
My favorite match at Mania this year was either the Steve Austin/Kevin Owens surprise match or the Brock/Roman fight. And so far as Cody using the “banned words”, I think it might be allowed for Cody, as a way to set himself apart from the rest of the roster and to help get him over), but a shift in WWE practice? So long as Vince is alive and in charge, the current policies and banned words will not be changing. Exceptions may be allowed, but on a regular basis, no way and no how.
As far as the 4 Horseman go, we can all agree on Ric, Tully, and Arn and of course, JJ is lifetime founding members. But as far as the 4th Horseman goes who’s your fav. Who’s your 4th Horseman?
This is a dumb question because the lifetime, founding, ORIGINAL members of the Horsemen are Ric, Arn, Tully, JJ, and OLE, period! I have much love and respect for several of the Horsemen who came along later, but the Original 4 founders, and JJ of course, are the best.
Mark Henry said that he thinks the Blackpool Combat Club will be the new NWO. Thoughts?
It’s a nice concept, but I don’t see it at all. The nWo was anti-management and was there to take over and disrupt the company for whom they worked, WCW. The BCC is more of an elite faction that is there to stand above and beyond the rest and make the company better by beating the other wrestlers until they are on par with the BCC and at their very best. The goals and concepts are nothing alike between the BCC and the NWO, at least not in any way I can see.
I keep hearing that WWE is not sure what to do with Roman Reigns as the “Unified Champion”. What do you think they should do?
While the idea of a Unified Champion looks and sounds good on paper, it’s not very practical in real-life booking for WWE, especially when they have two shows and two different corporate entities to answer to with USA Network/NBC and Fox. My suggestion would be to arrange a Triple-Threat match with both titles on the line, elimination-style, and via this match, one of Roman’s opponents can pin the other to take one of the belts off of Roman’s hands, but Roman remains strong since he didn’t actually lose the fall. Then Roman can win the second fall to keep his other title and we’re back to two champions, as we’ve grown accustomed to and as it should be.
Now that Gunther has arrived on SmackDown what are your expectations for him on the main roster?
I expect him to do very well and be a top contender for Roman and the Universal Championship very soon.
Does AEW have blood too often?
Absolutely. Blood in professional wrestling can be a useful tool when used properly and sparingly, but when you see it constantly, it defeats the whole purpose, loses the shock value, and doesn’t matter anymore. AEW is much more open to the use of blood than WWE and that started off as a good thing, but they’ve gone crazy and it seems to be a weekly thing now and that’s not good. Keep the crimson masks few and far between and then, they’ll matter. The way they do it now, it’s just another day at the office, routine, and no one cares. That’s not a good thing. Not at all.
Vader or the British Bulldog? Which one would you have liked to see with a WWF world title run in the 90s?
Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve never really seen Davey Boy as World Champion material. He always came across as either mid-card or tag team wrestler to me. Vader though, especially coming off his runs in Japan and WCW, should have been the WWE Champion, and the fact that he didn’t get a run with that title is just insane to me. He had the reputation, the legacy, the size, and the ability, but WWE was too busy protecting its golden boy, HBK, to even realize the opportunity that they had. It’s crazy!
The Undertaker will be doing a podcast on the WWE Network/Peacock. Thoughts?
I guess after thirty years of rarely talking and staying in character, Mark Calloway is now making up for lost time and talking all the time. I’m not sure how WWE and Peacock talked him into this, but I’m interested in seeing how it goes and what kind of interviewer that Taker will turn out to be. I’m excited.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. All comments, thoughts, or questions are welcome and appreciated. And with that, it’s time to call it a day. Until the next time, take care and be good. Watch out for those foreign objects. I’ll see you at the matches.
