Good morning and welcome to the show. Yes, it’s another fun-filled edition of the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Yes, I am really back. Let’s get busy and do this.
First, it was Ric Flair and now Rick Steamboat is coming back for “One Last Match”. Thoughts on Steamboat returning to the ring? And who would you like to see come back for one last match?
Unlike the Flair match, I suspect that Steamboat will be in great shape and is capable of having a great match. But that being said, I wish he wasn’t doing this. Steamboat had a great career and has nothing to prove to anyone. My guess is that Flair’s last match got him thinking and now it’s, “Hold my beer!”. Who is he wrestling? I haven’t heard any names mentioned, but based on how well he was able to carry Flair, how about Jeff Jarrett? It’d be a solid match and worthy of the main event spot for any wrestling event. The final question about who would I like to see come back for one last match is, how about Lisa Marie Varon, aka Victoria, for one last run in WWE leading up to a retirement match at Mania? Book it, HHH. That’s what I want to see.
Larry Zbyszko (in his prime) versus MJF. Who wins?
Imagine the great heel promos from both men. This would be a fun match and a great clash of styles. As to who wins, time only fears the pyramids and legends of professional wrestling. The winner would be “The Living Legend” Larry Zbyszko.
Who’s the most annoying announcer, and why is it Excalibur?
Excalibur is annoying. I agree. But is he really the worst? Not so long as Byron Saxton has a job in the WWE.
Do you think CM Punk will ever wrestle for AEW again?
Honestly, I don’t think so. I think he’s going to ride this latest injury out and then, continue to get paid until his contract expires with AEW. Time heals all wounds, but that media scrum was a disaster for AEW and Tony Khan, so I’m not sure if there will be enough time for Khan to want to bring Punk back to the AEW roster. I won’t be surprised if, in six months, Punk does return to do an angle with Omega to make big money, but I’m not holding my breath about it either.
Bayley said that she’d like her team, Danger CNTRL, to wrestle three Hall of Famers, Trish Stratus, Lita & Beth Phoenix. Would you like to see this match happen? Who would win?
Trish recently had emergency surgery so it should be a while before she’s able to compete and get into that ring, but once she’s cleared, a match between Danger CNTRL and the three legends, maybe at Wrestlemania, would be great to see. As for who wins, my heart cheers for the legends, but common sense and what is best for business says that Bayley and her crew should and would win. And there you go.
Ronda Rousey versus Chyna. Who wins?
Chyna was big and powerful, but be it a legit shoot or even just a wrestling match, Ronda should and would take that trip to the pay window with the big win.
Should AEW have an on-air Authority Figure? And if so, then who should it be?
I think they should and it should not be Tony Khan. Tony needs to be off of TV and as far from the spotlight as possible. As for who, there are two great choices on the roster that immediately come to mind. Either William Regal, basically recreating the role he had in NXT, would be great. Or since they’re not doing anything with him anyhow, how about “The Enforcer” Arn Anderson? Both men have the credibility and respect to make for a great authority figure for AEW, something they definitely need even if it’s only for the camera and on TV.
Which are your top 5 wrestlers that you would forever keep in their prime, to wrestle forever, to make 5-star matches and storylines?
The five that immediately come to mind are Ric Flair, HBK, Terry Funk, The Undertaker, and The Midnight Express w/ Jim Cornette.
Who would you have booked to beat Undertaker at Wrestlemania and end the streak?
I don’t think they should have ended the streak and should have let Undertaker remain undefeated at Wrestlemania until his eventual retirement. But that being said, if I had to pick someone to take down the Dead Man at Mania and really get that elevation and rub for his career, I’d go with Muhammad Hassan. That guy was good and had so much potential, but the WWE caved to political pressure and got rid of him instead. Marc Copani could have made WWE a lot of money and been one of the best heels of his generation, along with Shawn Daivari as his manager. I think I would have had him be the one.
Unpopular opinion but Kenny Omega is the next AJ STYLES. He’s widely regarded as the best Wrestler in the entire world.
No one regards Kenny Omega as the best wrestler in the world. No one. And so far as being compared to AJ Styles, I’ve been watching AJ Styles wrestle since the end of WCW. AJ Styles is a great performer. Kenny Omega is no AJ Styles. Not even close.
Speaking of Omega, do you think we’ll ever see a CM Punk versus Kenny Omega match in AEW?
It’s highly unlikely, but as I said earlier, time heals all wounds, and while I don’t think either Omega or Punk would be willing to work together in an angle right now, who knows how things will be six months or a year down the road? I don’t think it will happen but never say never.
Is there a reason Ken Shamrock is never in the Hall of Fame discussion?
My guess is that he pissed off Vince McMahon at some point, maybe by going to TNA and being the NWA World Champion or hell, maybe by coughing and not covering his mouth fast enough. With Vince and the WWE, who knows really? But maybe now that HHH is in charge, Shamrock can finally get his just due and get that spot in the Hall of Fame. Who knows? He absolutely is worthy though.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, or any questions you may have are welcome and appreciated. And with that, I’m out of here for now. Take care and be good, my friends. Watch out for the foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
