Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
The Horsemen, Johnny Ace, Vince McMahon & More
January 12, 2023
I don’t have much free time or patience, but I do have plenty of wrestling-based questions to answer. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s do this.
Tony Schiavone recently said that there is too much blood in wrestling. Agree or disagree?
If used sparingly and only when it can legit add to a match or situation, blood is kind of a necessary evil for wrestling, but adds to the product. When every match is a bloodbath and every wrestler is wearing a crimson mask, aka Jon Moxley, AEW, it loses the impact and is just blood for the sake of blood. The blood, especially in AEW as of late, has been used far too often and has no meaning or impact and distracts from the matches much more than it adds. So too much? Schiavone is right. Yes.
If AEW was to do a Woman’s Blood & Guts Match (War Games), who would be the women on each team, and do you think it would be a good match?
Are there even ten competent women wrestlers currently in AEW to do a ten-person match? sighs I’d do with Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter, Rebel, Tay Melo & Anna Jay versus Saraya, Toni Storm, Ruby Soho, Nyla Rose & Kris Statlander.
Dax Harwood seems to be ruffling some feathers with his new podcast. Thoughts?
Dax is just being blunt, outspoken, and telling it as he sees it, nothing more and nothing less. He’s far more polite and calm than most podcasters and if someone gets mad, it’s because they’re being exposed as a two-faced punk, nothing more. I like the podcast so far and see no reasons for anyone to be mad at Dax for anything he’s said as of late.
Sting, Vader, Hulk Hogan & Randy Savage versus HHH, HBK, The Undertaker & Kane in a War Games Match. Who wins?
What a fun match this would be. And although Hogan would no doubt bitch about it, The WWE team of DX and the Brothers of Destruction would take home the win.
Always been a fan of a submission finish. What’s your favorite submission hold?
The legendary claw, as applied by Baron Von Raschke or the Von Erich boys has always been my favorite.
What was the best version of the Four Horsemen?
I have a lot of love for the Pillman & Benoit version and my personal favorite will always be the original team of Ole, Arn, Tully, and Ric. But the best in terms of success and titles? It has to be Ric, Arn, Tully, and Windham.
So if Vince gets his way and sells the company, who buys it? Disney? Fox/NewsCorp? NBC Universal? Someone else? And whoever does buy it, does Nick Khan, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H stay in power in their current positions?
Well, Stephanie obviously won’t since she resigned from the WWE a few days ago, but I’m sure that HHH, Vince, and Khan will have positions in the company for a period of time regardless of who ends up buying the company. The Saudi deal that made headlines over the past few days was a fake story and isn’t going to happen, at least not so far as anyone is admitting, so they’re out for now. I think NBC Universal is probably the strongest option right now. I hope it’s not Disney or Fox. Let’s go with NBC as the most likely.
Who would you book to end Roman’s title reign and why? Who would you book to end MJF’s title reign and why?
I’d have Roman lose one of the titles at the Royal Rumble event. He beats Owens, but then gets an immediate challenge by a returning Cody and loses that challenge. The fine print of the contract, as pointed out by Heyman, shows that only one title, the WWE title, was on the line and thus Roman is still the Universal Champion. Then Cody goes on to defend the WWE title at Mania, while Roman does the same with the Universal Championship against a different opponent, most likely The Rock.
As for MJF, he loses the belt when CM Punk comes back and we get more Punk/MJF action for six months while The Elite stands backstage and fumes about Punk and Max stealing the show and making them look like idiots again.
If you were to recreate the Gimmick Battle Royal from Wrestlemania X-17 for this year’s Mania, what 15 “gimmick” wrestlers would you invite to participate?
My choices would be Disco Inferno, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Tatanka, Scott Steiner, Meng, Rikishi, Scotty 2 Hotty, Gangrel, Essa Rios, The Hurricane, The Boogeyman, Rob Conway, Stevie Richards, Carlito & Hornswoggle.
If Vince McMahon ends up back in charge of WWE, can he bring John Laurinaitis back?
If Vince is the boss, he can bring in anyone that he wants to, including Johnny Ace. The question is, would he? And no, I don’t think he would. Ace has too much baggage he’d be bringing back with him if he returned and too many people would not be happy.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions you may have are welcome and appreciated. And with that, I’m out of here for now. Time to go shower and get busy. Take care and be well, my friends. I’ll see you next time.
