Welcome to Wrestling Fact or Fiction. My thanks to Jake Chambers and 411mania.com/wrestling for the following statements. And the replies? That’s all me. Let’s do this.
Statement #1: You were surprised Vince McMahon came back to the WWE.
FICTION: It’s Vince McMahon and no one is surprised he forced his way back into WWE. At least not if they’ve been paying the slightest bit of attention over the past forty years. Vince never took vacations and his entire life, before his forced “retirement” was the WWE. He only left the company when he did because he was forced to, but being the majority stockholder and owner of the company, there was always the option to return if he decided that he wanted to. And he has. ‘Nuff said!
Statement #2: Sasha Banks / Mercedes Mone will main event an AEW PPV in 2023.
FICTION: Banks has yet to even appear or be mentioned by name on AEW so with that in mind, we don’t even know for sure if she’s signed a deal with them as of yet. And more importantly, the AEW Women’s Division is not strong enough to carry a show as the main event. No memorable stories to speak of and to be honest, no women in that company are over enough to headline a pay-per-view event. Sasha isn’t good enough to do it on her own and I don’t see any women in AEW who can level up and match up with her enough to carry a major event. It’s not going to happen.
Statement #3: The Sami Zayn / Bloodline storyline will end in a very predictable way.
FACT: We all know how it ends. Sammy will be kicked out of the group. The only saving factor is determining how and when it happens and what happens next. But if you’re paying attention, it won’t be hard to figure things out pretty easily as the story develops.
Statement #4: Wrestling matches on TV should take a time out during commercial breaks like all other televised sports.
FICTION: No way in hell. A break in the middle of the match would kill the flow of the match and destroy it for the live audience as well. If anything happens during the commercials, that’s why we have announcers to fill us in and do the rewind thing. If it’s not broken, don’t fix it, and matches work best, even on TV, as they currently are. A break in the middle? Absolutely not!
Statement #5: If the WWE is for sale you care who buys it.
FACT: Wrestling is a huge part of my life. I gave up partying, comic books, heavy drinking, being a Ho’, and pretty much every other bad habit I’ve ever had over the past few years as my years have accumulated and my health has declined. Wrestling is pretty much the only major vice I have left. And who is running the show and providing me with this entertainment, it matters? I want someone who knows the business, respects the business, and will keep the quality of the matches, and the stories, at a level I can appreciate and enjoy. I can’t see the Saudis or Disney doing that. I want to keep a product available that I can enjoy and regardless of who takes over from Vince, there will be changes. The degree of change depends on who that person or entity is. It absolutely matters.
And there you go. My thanks to Jake Chambers and 411Mania.com/wrestling for allowing me to take their toys and play with them for a bit. And thanks to you, my loyal readers, for sticking around and helping keep my site alive and thriving. I do all of this for you. It’s true. It’s damn true!
And now, I’m out of here. Take care and be well, my friends. Be careful of foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
Ubuntu!
